Sunnhordland is located between Bergen and Haugesund on the west coast, with the European Highway E39 going right through the region.
There are several gateways into the Sunnhordland region. You can arrive by ferry (Fjord Line) in Bergen or Stavanger, or you can arrive at the many airports close to, or in the region.
When arriving at Oslo Airport, it is a 530 km distance to get to Sunnhordland.

In Sunnhordland you will find a regional airport located at the island Stord. The airport is being operated both on a regular scheduled basis as well as for charter operations. The main route today is
Stord – Oslo, operated by DAT.
The airport is very favorable located on the western side of the island of Stord. From Leirvik center it takes approx. 18 minutes by car to the airport. Stord Airport is Sunnhordland region's local airport.

Airline DAT - Danish Air Transport - is a Danish airline offering everything from regular flight to charter and transport tasks.
The route offers 14 departures and arrivals per week
to/from Gardermoen with the airline DAT and the flight type ATR-42.
Flights every day except on Saturdays. The flight between Stord and Oslo takes approx. 50 minutes.

Bergen airport, Flesland
Located approx. 82 km from Stord. Fastboats and busses goes directly from Bergen airport to Leirvik, Stord. Bergen airport is offering direct flights to 40 international destinations, and 16 domestic destinations.

You can travel by train fromOslo to Bergen. The scenic journey takes about 6,5 – 7,5 hours.

Fjord Line
From Hirtshals Fjord Line has ferries going frequently to Stavanger and Bergen. Sunnhordland is situated between of Bergen and Stavanger. A short cartrip that takes about 2- 2,5 hours.
Color Line
From Kiel Color Line has ferries going frequently to Oslo. From Oslo to Sunnhordland is a cartrip for about 530 km, driving E134 over Haukeli fjell.
